Shelia Bolda- Board Member at Large
Sheila Lynne Bolda has been active in theater arts for over three decades and has been the Executive Director of the Sturges-Young Center for the Arts, a 950+ seat auditorium and event center in Sturgis, Michigan since February 2019, where she kickstarted expansive restoration projects and reinvigorated annual programming and community engagement, despite the challenges of the recent pandemic. Sheila currently sits on the Downtown Development Authority Board (DDA) as well as the Sturgis Historical Society (SHS) Board and is active on the event committees for both. Sheila holds a Bachelor of Arts in Theater Design from Western Michigan University and a Master of Arts in Cinema Studies from the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) in Savannah, GA. At SCAD, she was the Programming Director for the college’s Trustees Theater, an art deco 1100+ seat historic theater and the annual SCAD Savannah Film Festival, now in its 24th year. From 2002 to 2017, Sheila’s role with SCAD involved production and execution of hundreds of live theatrical and music events annually, including the award-winning Savannah Music Festival, encompassing everything from box office to backstage and more. Sheila also co-founded Savannah Shakes in 2015, producing two community theater productions of Shakespeare annually. Returning to her Michigan roots in 2017, Sheila continues to program the SCAD Savannah Film Festival in an ad hoc role, and volunteers for other festivals such as the Ann Arbor Film Festival and Cinetopia, while also pre-screening films for the Tribeca Film Festival in New York City since 2017. Sheila’s stage experience includes acting, directing, producing, writing and scenic and costume design, and love for live musical events, both in front of and behind the scenes.
